This beautiful hardcover children's book is a great example of all the work that Heifer International, a global nonprofit, is doing.
The author, Page McBrier, the illustrator, Lori Lohstoeter, and Beatrice, the subject of the book, have all graced the signed books with their autographs. You're not going to be able to find a copy of this book signed like this anywhere else. We were lucky to catch Beatrice and have these books signed by her while she was visiting Heifer International’s headquarters, which is something that she doesn’t get to do often.
Publishers Weekly had this to say about Beatrice's Goat: "McBrier's tale, inspired by actual events, succeeds in demonstrating the positive ripple effect of the efforts of one organization. [...] Perhaps the volume's greatest strength is Lohstoeter's (How the Leopard Got His Spots) sunny acrylic paintings, which capture the hues of dusty thatched huts and verdant banana groves of the African landscape. Sweet-faced Beatrice and her mother take center stage, wearing colorful, traditional clothes, and their bond is palpable."
All proceeds go to Worldbuilders, a geek-centered nonprofit supporting humanitarian efforts worldwide.
